Needlepoint Stitch Books from Stitch School
Stitch School is a growing series of digital needlepoint stitch books from AMK Publications, the team behind Needlepoint Now Magazine. Every stitch in every volume is charted, photographed as a finished sample, and demonstrated on video.
The books are drawn from more than twenty-six years of stitch guides published in the magazine — thousands of charted stitches, gathered and sorted into volumes you can actually work from.
What is inside our needlepoint stitch books
Each stitch gets three things, and they are meant to be used together.
- A clear chart — numbered, showing the exact order and direction of every stitch in the repeat.
- A photograph of the finished stitch — so you can see the texture before you commit thread to canvas.
- A video lesson — the stitch worked start to finish, at a pace you can follow.
The chart tells you where the needle goes. The photograph tells you what you are aiming for. The video shows the thread path, the rhythm and the compensation that a diagram alone can never quite convey.
How the books and the video lessons fit together
Every chart in the book links directly to its own lesson on this site. You are never hunting through a playlist for the right stitch — the link takes you straight to it.
Buying a book creates your account here automatically. Once you are logged in, the full video library for that book is open to you for a year.
Most people stitch with the video open beside them on a phone or tablet propped next to the canvas. Adding this site to your phone’s home screen makes it open like an app.
What the needlepoint stitch books cost
Each book is $24. That single price covers the complete PDF to download and keep, plus a full year of access to the video lesson for every stitch in it. The book and the videos come together — there is no separate purchase for either.
After the first year you can choose to extend your video access year by year for $5 per year. That choice is yours to make when the first year is up; nothing is taken automatically.
The book itself is yours permanently, exactly like a printed one. Download it during your first year and save it somewhere safe.
Which of the needlepoint stitch books to start with

Volume 1 covers 45 needlepoint background stitches — the small, medium and large repeats that fill the space around a painted motif.
Background is where most canvases are won or lost. It is the largest area on the piece, the part that takes the longest, and the part that decides whether the finished work reads as flat or alive. Volume 1 is deliberately the first book in the series for that reason.
If you have ever finished a canvas in basketweave and wondered what else was possible, that is the volume to begin with.
Who these needlepoint stitch books are for
Confident beginners who have the basic stitches down and want to move past them. Experienced stitchers building a wider repertoire. Anyone who has bought a painted canvas with a stitch guide and wants to understand the stitches it calls for rather than simply copying them.
You need no special equipment beyond what you already own — canvas, tapestry needles, stretcher bars, and the threads you like to work with.
More volumes on the way
New titles are in production, each dedicated to a different family of stitches, and each with its own set of video lessons here on the site. The needlepoint stitch books already released are listed below, with the full contents of each volume set out on its own page so you can see exactly which stitches you are getting before you buy.
